Leah has been competing in or coaching gymnastics for over 25 years.  She began gymnastics at the age of three and competed at both the regional and national levels for over 14 years.  In her prime, she won 1st place All-Around at states beating nearly two dozen other gymnasts on the balance beam, vault, uneven bars and floor.  She coaches alongside her sister, Rachel, both here at Flair and at the Somerset County YMCA.

 She assists in coaching nearly 250 gymnasts at the YMCA and nearly 100 dancers at Flair.  She has specialized training in preschool gymnastics and you can clearly see her shine as she teaches students the fundamentals of acrobatics.  Leah has completed the USA Gymnastics Safety Certification as well as CPR/AED and first aid training. Leah believes that being exposed to acro helps a child overall increase their strength, coordination and even self-esteem. Leah is proud to be working with the other very talented instructors and amazing dancers at Flair.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son and her husband. 


 Alex started dance and gymnastics when she was three.  She also was a part of a drama club, where she was featured in lead roles in musicals.  She then joined a competitive cheer team for five years where she was simultaneously cheering for two different levels.  In 2009, her team won first place at Nationals in Oregon.  

Alex was also part of the Jr. SeaGals program performing at halftime during the Seattle Seahawks games for four years.  There, she was noticed by the Director of the SeaGals and was asked to be on live TV to discuss the program.  The Director also asked her to attend the taping of the New Day Morning Show on the local Fox station to not only speak about the program but also to perform.  She went on to assisting tryouts and auditions while with the organization. 


During her time with cheer teams, Alex was an assistant coach for the mini competitive squad where she helped lead the team, taught routines and trained the cheerleaders.  After moving from Seattle to NJ, she decided to make dance her main focus and with hard work and determination, put everything she had into becoming a better dancer.  

She has been assisting Amanda Grace for the past three years in Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop and also assists Rachel and Leah in Acrobatics classes, which she choreographs for Flair's recital. Alex is thrilled to be a part of the Flair Family and is eager to extend her passion of dance and gymnastics to her students.

Lauren started acro classes when she was five years old which started her career in gymnastics.  She is now on the Somerville YMCA Gold gymnastics team and the Hillsborough High School varsity gymnastics team.  In 2016, she was the New Jersey YMCA level 8 all around champion and was invited to compete in the 2017 National High School Gymnastics competition in Florida as a senior. 

 Angela served for years as a faculty member of American Repertory Ballet's "DancePower" and DancePower II programs, founded by Gregory Hines. Other choreography credits include: University of Delaware's "Dark Arts" Dance Program, Rider University's "Rider Dances," and music video work for Urban Melodic Entertainment, Inc. and Team Snooki Music. Angela is skilled, passionate and ambitious about her craft. Class styles range from street to sassy, with a fusion of jazz, funk and hip hop. Her choreography is high energy, hard hitting and intricate. Aside from teaching dance, she is also a certified ZIN instructor for Zumba® Fitness.


Alyson is returning for her 3rd year teaching with Flair! She grew up dancing in New Jersey at her local studio, while also attending summer programs throughout the US and dancing in the Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker.  Alyson went on to become a dance performance major at the Boston Conservatory, studying ballet, modern, jazz, theatre, and historical dance, and was lucky enough to be chosen to perform in Jose Limon’s Psalm and Misa Brevis, as the Hosana Solo dancer.

 Alyson has choreographed over ten musicals and has performed numerous leads, highlights being Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Mayzie LaBird in Seussical and Victoria in Cats. She is currently a company member of the Nikki Manx Dance Project, performing in both NJ and NYC,  and is the resident choreographer for Coastal Artists Productions in Asbury Park. You can catch Alyson as the featured dancer in Patrice Jegou’s From This Moment On music video and may have seen her in the Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show with Bruno Mars.  




Angela started dancing at the age of 5 in Brooklyn, NY and has studied numerous dance styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. With hip hop being her forte', she has studied under some of the biggest choreographers in the industry. She's toured nationally and internationally as a backup dancer for "Who Da Funk" for their #1 radio club hit, "Shiny Disco Balls" and has also performed in numerous stage shows at Six Flags Great Adventure during their summer and Fright Fest seasons.

In the past, she performed in numerous stage productions at Plays in the Park, (Edison, NJ & The State Theater, New Brunswick, NJ). Angela was a member of the "alternative jazz" based dance company, "Push Factor Dance Company" (Astoria, NY), and the hip hop based dance crew, "Iconic" (Englishtown, NJ). She served as the hip hop instructor for Push Factor's National Convention, "DanzJam" and guest teaches in numerous locations throughout the east coast. Other professional performing credits include KTU's Beatstock Concert, “Chinna Cinema” Bollywood Film (Oneindia Entertainment) and she was featured on Paula Abdul's hit TV show, "Live to Dance,” aired on CBS (Season 1).


Angela: Studio Manager


Hailey began dancing at the age of 3 in Rutherford, New Jersey.  She has studied various styles of dance throughout her life with contemporary and modern being her strongest forms. In high school, she trained in a special arts program called the Freehold Regional Performing Arts Center where she was taught by many different teachers from Broadway stars to the head of contemporary companies.  As well as training in school, she attended a studio with a strong ballet focus.

    Hailey has had many professional performance experiences. She choreographed and performed her own solos and group pieces for audiences throughout high school and continued in college for the Rutgers Performance Dance Company and was lucky enough to perform for Cleo Mack’s modern company at Grounds for Sculpture. She was also invited back to lead the modern and ballet auditions for the Freehold Regional Performing Arts Center. Hailey continues her training constantly by taking classes at some of New York’s top studios like Steps on Broadway, Peridance and Gibney Dance to keep on top of new techniques and styles with some of the industry top performers and choreographers. 

Rachel has been a gymnast for over 30 years and was awarded the prestigious SCIAA Scholar Athlete award.  Rachel has all of her safety certifications through USA gymnastics, completed Rutgers Coach Training for Cheer, Pop Warner Coach Training and has extensive training for athletic/sports injuries, including CPR/AED and first aid training.  A former certified nurses aid, Rachel is a Hillsborough resident who spending quality time with her family.  She is thrilled to be teaching her 5th year of Acro at Flair!

Mindy attended St. Francis University where she obtained her BA in Social work.  Since graduating she has taught ballet, lyrical, pointe and ballet/tap combo classes in several studios in new Jersey.  Dance is not only Mindy's passion but it is in her bones, she loves nothing more than sharing her love of the art with children of all ages.




We believe that giving young dancers the opportunity to learn and work side by side with our professionals is an invaluable experience.  We train dancers to one day become a dance teacher, while instilling in them the importance of responsibility, gaining social skills and leadership qualities.  Our Assistant Program not only extends your dancers training to another level, but helps shape them for their future endeavors in more ways than one, no matter what their career goals are.

Now having the opportunity to share her skill and love for dance, Amanda is thrilled to have created Flair Dance Academy!
For four years, Amanda has choreographed musicals at Plays In The Park theater in Edison NJ  ("Hairspray", "Grease", "Xanadu" and "Bye Bye Birdie").  The Asbury Park Press reviewed Amanda as "the star of the show" for her high energy, entertaining choreography in "Grease" in 2012.   Amanda was also hired as the choreographer for St. John's University's theater department as well!

This past year she also filmed a commercial and voiceover for the lifestyle brand, Zazen Bear, released in summer 2015. Alyson is a published freelance model, a licensed Zumba instructor and is a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer through AFAA.

Mindy is a classically trained ballet dancer who started dancing at the age of 3.  She began her classical ballet training when she was 7 at the New Jersey School of Ballet where she studied under several world class teachers such as George Tamal, Caralyn Clark and Elie Lazar.  She performed in numerous productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella and end of year workshops.  By the age of 8 she was dancing an average of 25 hours per week.  At the age of 11, Mindy continued her training at the Mill Ballet School under the direction of Mark and Melissa Roxey.  After spending her summer training at Princeton Ballet Summer Intensive program, she was accepted into their Ballet Plus year round program at the age of 13. 

 Throughout Mindy's training she has danced around the country through various programs which have given her the opportunity to not only learn from international professional dancers and teachers but gave her the ability to grow as a dancer.  




Nanako began her ballet training in Japan at Geiutsuza Ballet Studio 'Jardin des Arts' where she performed such roles as Clara in Nutcracker, Rose Adagio in The Sleeping Beauty and the title role in Cinderella. In 2005 she was selected to attend the prestigious Royal Ballet Summer School. In 2006 she was accepted to Elmhurst School for Dance in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2006 and trained with Don Tolj, Elizabeth Rae, Samira Saidi and other staff.

She has performed for his Royal Highness Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall in Elmhurst productions and for the grand re-opening of Birmingham's town hall. In 2009 Nanako joined on National Tour with Birmingham Royal Ballet and graduated from Elmhurst having received the National Diploma in Professional Dance and successfully gained distinction in Royal Academy of Dance. She has also performed with Boca Ballet cast as peasant pas de trois, leading willis in Giselle and soloist in La Bayadere. During a trip to United Kingdom in 2011 Nanako was invited to participate in Elmhurst Outreach project entitled Tale of Beatrix Potter.


Matt Steffanina began dancing at age 18 in a small town in Virginia.  Influenced by Michael Jackson, Usher & Chris Brown his style of hip hop quickly caught on throughout the east coast.  He made the move to Los Angeles in 2010 and landed his first professional job dancing on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'.  Since then his credits have grown to included Taylor Swift, The Ellen Show, So You Think You Can Dance, The Amazing Race, Radio Disney Awards, American Music Awards, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown and more.  Matt has taught in over 25 countries and his classes are sold out weeks in advance.  He is also a headlining faculty member of The Pulse, and has the largest online dance channels in the world with over 7 Million YouTube subscribers & 1 BILLION views.

In addition to this she was also invited to lead the audition classes for the launch of the Elmhurst Associate programme in Manchester, Sunderland and Plymouth. Nanako joined New Tampa Dance Theatre as artist in residence in 2011. She was a guest artist for world renowned choreographer Christopher Fleming performances in February and his ballet Gaspar a Pirate Fantasy in January 2012. In August 2013 she joined the American Repertory Ballet in NJ.


Miss Sandy began studying dance at the age of 3 and teaching at the age of 16.  Her instructional experience includes tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, Hawaiian, musical theater, acting and acrobatics. 

Her choreography experience includes the Essex County Jr. Miss Scholarship Program, Mrs. NJ International Pageant, and Hunterton Harmonizer’s Christmas show.  Miss Sandy is a personal choreographer to pageant contestants and vocal artists.  Her choreography has also won multiple awards at the best and most difficult competitions in the county including many overalls, choreography awards, most entertaining awards, soloist titles and being selected to perform in the National Final Showcases.  

Amanda Grace: Owner

Amanda Grace is a professional choreographer, coach, dancer and host.  She was the Director of the NJ Devils Dancers (NHL) from 2009-2012 where she choreographed all routines and trained the team. She was also seen at Devils home games as the In-Game host up on the jumbo tron at the Prudential Center Arena in Newark NJ, where she narrated fun trivia games and exciting entertainment in between action on the ice.

 Amanda was regularly featured on NJD TV as the Director of the Dance team and the commercial spokeswoman.  

Formerly a NY Knicks City Dancer (NBA) Amanda started blending her passion for dance and sports in 2007 when she became a member of the NJ Ironmen Dance Team (MISL) in their inaugural year at the Prudential Center. ​

In that same year she also danced for the NY Titans (NLL) at Madison Square Garden. Amanda was also the coach and choreographer for the Somerset Patriots Dance Team (Atlantic League of Professional Baseball).
Having extensive training and experience in the business, Amanda has been able to share her knowledge with thousands of dancers in the tri-state area. Her choreography has won numerous first place and overall awards at both regional and national dance competitions. She has been a teacher and instructor of children, adults and professionals for over 15 years.

In June 2010 Amanda created her own dance company Urban Flair, a cutting edge agency that provides professional trained dancers and models to any function or event.



Dana began her professional dance career by representing the NBA in NYC as a Knicks City Dancer. She went on to dance with recording artist Kat Deluna on her world promo tour. Dana then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her career on the west coast.

Rachel is a professional gymnastics coach that has been teaching and coaching gymnastics for over 20 years.  Throughout her award winning career she has coached over 750 gymnasts in over 200 competitions.

 Besides teaching nearly 100 students at Flair each year, she is the Head Gymnastics Coach at the Somerset County YMCA for over 75 boys and girls within 8 different competitive levels and another 150 recreational level gymnasts. 

She has led many gymnasts and teams to victory in both regional and national competitions, claiming 1st place all-around in the YMCA State Competitions over 10 times.  Many of Rachel’s star gymnasts also dance at Flair.  Rachel feels very strongly that adding acro into a dancer’s weekly schedule ensures that they become stronger, more flexible and overall enhances their ability to perform in other sports such as dancing, wrestling, cheerleading and football.

Most recently, she choreographed and performed on Bravo TV's Watch What Happens Live and The Real Housewives of NJ. She has worked with artists like Tyga and Wiz Khalifa and has just returned from a tour in China, where she performed, danced in a national commercial, choreographed and taught workshops. Dana was also recently cast as a dancer for a national Lexus commercial. She also assists choreographer Matt Steffanina (her fiance) at his weekly LA classes at IDA Hollywood and Millennium Dance Complex. She is featured in countless videos with Matt, some that have reached well over a million views on YouTube and have been posted by celebrities like Will.I.Am, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown.  She was also on and won the Amazing Race with Matt! 

Dana and Matt's YouTube videos have millions and millions of hits.  Most recently their "Wiggle" video just hit 6 million! They also won Ryan Seacrest's choreographer challenge and was featured on MTV as Ariana Grande's choreographer pick!

Sandy’s professional experience includes traveling around the country as a magician’s assistant, print modeling, acting in television commercials and as a movie extra, pageant ownership, judging and coaching, as well as being a regular dancer on the hit TV show Club MTV.  She had the pleasure of being a participant in the Miss NJ USA Pageant and later on attainted the title of Mrs. Essex County International.


She is proud of the volunteer work she has done throughout the years, especially being able to speak on behalf of the March of Dimes and volunteering to teach dance to inner city children.  She has also served as a tap captain in NYC for Tap-O-Mania.  Personally, she is a mom of two children, but has always seen her students as an extension of her own family.  Dance is not just a job to Miss Sandy, it is her passion and her legacy.

Lauren has been a gymnastics coach at the Somerville YMCA for two years and now coaches the copper team and choreographs floor routines.  She is excited to join the Flair Family as an acro teacher, working with Miss Rachel and Miss Leah who are her coaches at the YMCA.  Gymnastics has always been a big part of her life and she is ecstatic to share her passion at Flair.
